Have been really busy with school as well as ape's stuff these few weeks. Yup, that includes the camp and stuff.. event to attend and school has started this week. Today i had my last lesson of the week - business, government and society. Interesting i would say. It's kinda similar to 'analytical skills' which does alot of debates and arguements. As for analytical skills, the topics are general, but for today's lesson, we'll discuss about areas in business, gov and society.
Today we discussed a little about the rally speech 2006.
Interesting views from classmates though most of us kept kinda quiet throughout listening. May its just the beginning. Need to get used to it.
Alright, ace just left for her class. Staying here for a while more before i go.
School is fun. I applied for the OCBC-SMU debit card. I love the personalised card. hehhe. nice! with the SMU logo on top. white in colour hur hur. Soon i'll convert my UOB TX card to the campus card.
Have yet to config my laptop. Yeah, the help desk is always full of people.

National Day

Spent my national day with tom and his family and my family! In the noon, we tagged along his family to view his aunt's new house at sembawang (super holland location). It's viewing HOUSE!! And you know.. i love viewing houses.. hahaha.. so MUST tag along! No furniture in yet, but all the basic built up done already..
The layout of the house pretty o-k except for alot of corners which landed properties always face.. - common. And there's this mini swimming pool there. SO SHIOK!! I guess it's really for show one ba.. Its really nice to have some water in the house.. It cools down the temperature, make you feel more relax, and also for beauty. hehe.. So even if you dont use it, it still can be useful! Another thing, there's lots and lots of glass panels.. which is what i really like about a house.. cos they really bring in enough sunlight to bright up the house during the day, of course it'll be too hot most of the time..but sunlight will still get in when there's curtains.. so i love them! Nothing can replace the natural sunlight. It's just so adequate and beautiful. :)
Overall the house is nice! *thumbs up* but of course have to see the interior deco when it's all done. It really will make a difference hehehe.
After this, we went to my cousin's place at geylang that side, for dinner and fireworks. His house is very near to the national stadium, so tom really had a hard time finding car park. Everywhere there's illegal parking! omg.. But in the end, illegal carpark also fully occupied. So we parked quite far, and walked over.
My tooth still hurts on that day. A lil swollen still, and cant really open my mouth big enough to bite stuff. So i have to break stuff, and put into my mouth, chew abit and swallow x.x That day they had a mini feast. Thai mango dessert, black pepper crabs (my fav!), friend prawns (aww), vegetables etc.
Gues what?! I only ate ONE pathetic prawn. Too hard for my teeth to chew. My jaw hurts from the right side even when i chew from my left side. Even when i break it into little pieces, still too hard. And i took damn long to finish ONE prawn ah. grr. But luckily i had tom by my side.. i had the crab meat while he bite the shell for me heehee!
Then after dinner we watched fireworks!! yoohoo! so excited can!! Last year I didnt watch cos tom just enlisted.. hehe!

Few months back I worked for this company, let's call it X. X requested me to do a web mock up for another company. So actually company X is just a coordinator.. but i dont care, cos who's im liasing with is X.
I even met up with X one fine day, to settle the details and stuff. I THOUGHT i was quite smart, by not doing the main page, and let X to talk to client, when it's confirmed, i will do the subpage. And that time, X told me that the project is confirmed, nevertheless i still ask them to confirm first, in case there's any changes, no extra work will be done.
So we settled the amount to be paid, and stuff. I even requested for contract so it will be fair to the company in case I run away or what la. So they said, no need for contract.
After few weeks, i msned the guy. He said client haven't get back to them. And that went on for a few more times when i ask him as time goes by. So i wait. Until about 2 months later, I msned him again. He said the project was off. This is starting to be irritating. Firstly, they are so irresponsible, that they did not even inform me that the project was off. Never mind. At least i did my part yah?
Then after that i 'chased' him for the payment. I said even if the project was off, design fee have to pay, cos initially there was verbal promise that the project will be on. And they agreed on the design fee too. He said OK! and will discuss with his management.
I msned him a few more times after that, and all i get was the same reply.
Until there's once, he said the management said the design fee was too high, and somemore they're not using the mockup. HEY?!?! not using the mock up my fault?? You guys engaged me to design for you, and not using, so you push it back to me? So what if i can use back the layout? Layouts are more or less the same everywhere la.. it's already customised to the company, and push it back to me?
Then company X said they are willing to compensate my time and efforts. I said okay. $Y. He said okay, he will discuss with the management.

After like so many months, recently i finally able to msn him. He has been ignoring my msn. I asked "hmm so how's the payment going?"
He replied me that the management did not approve.
I blew up. yup, immediately.
This thing has been dragged for so bloody long. FIrstly, they aren't even responsible in informing everything. I have to ask and ask and ask. This equals to shrinking responsiblities and hope i dont bug them!
Then we sort of argued. In a very polite way. LOL.
Anyway, he said that the company said they have no right to pay me anything. 1stly, they are not using the mockup, 2ndly, they have no contract or any binding, got somemore forgot already.
Of course i got angrier. Because he said those are TRUE. yeah. I'ts true, but they're NOT valid. Firstly, it's verbal promise. So as a company, i trust them, they wouldn't do anything to spoil their reputation? But now i see their true colours. Out to cheat lah. or maybe 'conveniently' cheat. And i did mention about contract, so its fair to both sides, they said don't need. So meaning they should be responsible in what they do. And besides, using the mockup or not, is their problem. I did my job, they should pay me my share. The mockup is for their company already, a portfolio in their company, and they say things like this?
Then this guy say he cannot do anything, but he can fork out from his pocket. I said no, its not about the money, it's about how things are going like that, it's bad. really bad. I just told him that oh well, i guess that this whole thing is just badly managed that's all, i have really bad impression on your company. I can just dont want the money, but pls, dont bully freelances because they are freelances. We're doing our part, being responsible and produce work within your time budget, but you guys are like taking advantage of us.
Then never reply already.
I get really piss off when people take advantage of freelancers. take our mockups, and kick us away. I MAKE SURE I SIGN A CONTRACT NEXT TIME!! unless it's ape then ok.
I know some freelances run away just like that. But wth, i seriously think more companies run away from freelancers lo. zz. Freelancers dont need to live ar?? do work for free? To hell with it. grr. GRRRRRR

Wisdom tooth extraction

It was a memorable day. FINALLY went for my wisdom tooth extraction. YES FINALLY!! after dragging for like 3-4 years? HAHA im luckily it didnt rot!!
The process was alot faster than I've expected. It ended like 20-30 mins. My eyes were covered. All i can hear was drillings, cracking, etc sounds.
Biting on the cotton and walked around marina square. so paiseh can! Met people i know with my swollen cheek. And Shawn was like imitating my swollen cheek. Anyway, that part was rather numbed with anesthetics. Got quite a few jabs and they were quite uncomfortable as they affect a little on the ear.
As we walk around buying present, I can feel some pain coming from the extracted part. I thought oh maybe it'll remain like that. BUT!! The pain grew. Intense pain came shortly after. arghhhhh There were tears in my eyes x.x so painfullllllllll.. I cant take it anymore, popped in a pain killer.. Of course it did not take effect immediately. After a while, i sort of get used to the pain, slowly i can feel it subsiding.. but it's still painful. changed the cotton a few times.. omg, like changing pad x.x filled with blood then must change ~.~
Yeah, shawn brought me to TCC and settle down. I was feeling very uncomfortable already. Took the glass of ice water and place it on my cheek, to numb the pain. I ordered a glass of ice blended coffee to fill my stomach first.
After that the pain remain at that 'standard' which is quite okay cos i think the pain killer is acting already. so still can tah han. Proceed to YR's party. I sat there and stone x.x YR hand me a towel with ice.. hehe so sweet horrrrr.. yeah it really helped alot. I placed it beside the swelling, and the pain subsided/ numbed. I left quite early though.. Need some rest, and some food.
The pain was gone. hehe.. left the swelling there.

Gotta take out my stitches next week, after my next camp! yoohoo! and it's OVER!! weeeee!

Had my first camp in SMU last mon - wed. Initially I thought it was bored, but later on at night and the next day, things got better tho i was super tired! hehe.. let pictures to the talking!
First day going out for amazing race
Together with "shi zi lu kou", so we settle ourselves down and ordered our foooodddd! famished.
at bishan park doing tasks for the amazing race to gain points
yay! completed the task - build a structure to hold an egg for 1 minute, and at least 30 cm tall

2nd day - out for a charity drive. Sold all our stuff! yay!
