2 weeks in Turkey, 1 month and 1 week away from home
Thursday, October 08, 2009

Wow.. it should be the longest time i've ever been away from home. One month and one week thus far. Travelling has been great but I'd say I've been very distracted and as usual.. quarrels with Tey. What's new? Nothing's new, even the issues we quarrelled about. I don't want to go into that because it's just annoying, and frustrating.

I must say that my travel plans over the first 3 weeks has been very very very very relaxed. in fact, too relaxed! should've seen more, really. Nevertheless, let me summarize it here.

5th - 6th september - Latvia, Riga
This is our first country - a transit to Paris actually. But we spent a night over at Riga at the old town which is really charming! I kind of like the place as it's very slow paced but yet not affecting me. Architecture is beautiful, night life with live jazz bands as well as musicians busking along the streets.

6th - 8th september - France, Paris
We met Siyun, Zhenchang and Huiwen in Paris - and leeched their accom of course :D but they are really kind in providing us a roof in Paris as it really costs a bomb just to stay in Paris. We stayed in their hostel, which is Zone 5 (the outest zone of Paris) and transport to central paris is expensive - 5.80 euros.

Over the three days, we spent our time on Notre Dame, the Louve, the arc, and the eiffle tower. We did alot of people-watching too. The louve is really awesome, i'd love to go again! as i've only covered maybe one quarter of the museum only. yes it is THAT huge.

Some disappointments in Paris were like.. I did not manage to taste the macarons, and other pastries that france is famous for.

8th-12th september - France, Nice
Nice is probably the nicest city in France where I've visited. I simply love the hostel that we were staying in - saint villa expuery. We met lovely people from Finland, Italy and Swizz!

We did day trips from Nice to Monaco, eze village and some other small places. And one thing which we are quite amazed with - sandless beach. It's really quite painful to lie on those pebbles! We swam too! but was really cold. and Tey got picked up by some Romanians on the beach ha!

On our last night in Nice, we went to a jazz pub and had dinner. Our only wine in France - Rose wine from Provence which is a famous product in France. I must say that French are really romantic people.. but sometimes too passionate. Maybe it's just the guy we met haaa..

12th september - France, Marseille
This city is a really old town, more rugged than Nice. Not many tourists, but the city is pretty pleasant but we felt that it's not a very safe city to be in as tourists, especially at night. but the good thing is that since it is not very touristy, we can view the real side of people in these small towns in southern france.

12th - 15th september - Spain, Barcelona
When we reached barcelona, we were half dead. That's because we took a night bus which took 10 hours to reach barce. Nevertheless, Barcelona is one of my favourite cities! Simply because I was finally having some "city life". I can't do sight seeing for a long period of time - I get bored ya know. We met up with SMU people again, and of course.. leech the accom! Thanks to Tey. We bunked in with Brandon, Jit and his friend. We cleaned up their house and tidied up their place haaa!

They were an awesome bunch of people who showed us around barcelona, brought us for lunch and went to some places together too. In barce we went to the famous Sagrada Familia, park gruell, shopping, and flamingo dance performance. Really wanted to catch an opera or concert there but too bad we did not. Weather wasn't too good when we were in barce - rained for two days! but we still managed to go to the city beach and had a half nude tanning session. We too went to visit the night life in Barce which was awesome. Mojito in barce - thumbs up!

15th - 17th september - Spain, Ibiza
We met up with Alan in barce and flew to ibiza together. Jiali should've been with us!

Ibiza the party island i'm sure most of you know about it. It wasn't as fantastic as i would have imagined. Kind of wasted money there. On our first night we decided to pre-drink so we dont spend much in the club. But we drank way too much and the night wasn't pleasant.

The second day we went for some sight seeing, went to the old town of Ibiza. The view was fantastic and yeah, pretty beautiful place :) For the night, we decided we should not drink too much.. so we had too few drinks and we had to spend some cash in the club. It was 15 euros per drink *ahem* and the entrace to the famous club - Pacha Ibiza was 40 euros!!! We bought the tickets from the black market, else it'll be 60 euros. that's madness!! Actually clubbing in SG is so much cheaper.

17th - 18th september - UK, London
Finally having some freedom to do what i want. I'm not saying company is not good, but sometimes you just need to do what you want :) It's my first time travellign alone as well! Was really excited about it.

Once I reached London, settled in my hostel, I proceeded to buy my tickets for Wicked the musical. I do not need to say much about it as people who watched it will definitely watch again if possible. :) That was for my first night, and the next day i went for the london royal day tour. Was pretty good, went to the beckingham palace, and some other palaces in London. In the afternoon, I went to the Borough market which was highly recommended by timothy. Bought the famous brownie which wasn't THAT fantastic. but was good still :)

Then...... I rushed back to my hostel, grab my bag and took the tube to Victoria station. I ran like a mad woman as i nearly miss my bus to manchester!! Gosh that was awful. I sweat in London.. wearing a sleeveless top. I was in drips of sweat and that's crazy. Managed to catch my bus in the end. and that was the beginning of a 5 hour bus ride to Manchester. Having kinda mixed feelings about going Manchester but boy, I enjoyed my stay there.

18th - 22nd September - UK, Manchester
Five boys picked me up at the coach station - Thank you! :) Being the only girl is such an advantage. I got my own room, with a big bed. But the poor guy gotta squeeze on the couch for four nights. With the fur throw on the bed, it gave me lotsa warmth. I'm so gonna buy it back to SG :D lovin it. It is the best accom i had so far, and for the rest of my exchange.

Home cooked meal in Manchester as well. Shopping's great, and soccer match at the pub was awesome. Was my first time watching soccer match! (yes, i've NEVER watched it with Thomas before if you are wondering). I went to the old trafford as well. The guys are such nice people. Rio accompanied me for shopping on my 2nd day there. and poor him! gotta wait for me while I tried on tons of clothes. 50 pounds damange on shopping. and jon accompanied me to old trafford even though he had been to the tour before :)

Did not do much in Manchester, but I really enjoyed my stay there :)

alright.. gotta go to the gym now, will post up pics maybe next week :)

And so.. time flies
Saturday, July 11, 2009

One more week to the end of my 2-month internship. I'm happy that I've regained freedom, but yet.. hope to have extended to another month.

I miss school. I really do. :(

Just one more semester (hopefully) to end my years of slogging in SMU. Time flies. I'm moving to year 4 already!! Last night was the grad dinner, and later will be the commencement.

Somehow it got me thinking.. how will my commencement will be next year? My resutls are not good, and definitely I dont think I will feel as happy as when I grad for poly. Im not here to brag about that poly i did fantastic. I did not expected it to be, with the amt of effort I've put in as compared to in SMU.

I'll be leaving for exchange in less than 2 months. I bet.. in 3 days I will be homesick. Im usually not a homely person, but I will miss my loved ones, my friends, my room :(

alright.. sleep. gnight

Turkey, here I come
Tuesday, June 30, 2009

While I am feeling frustrated over restoring my iPhone, and waiting for it to be done so I can go for my swim, I shall do some updates.

Turkey flight tickets have been purchased :)

Flight No. : SQ490
Aircraft : B777-300
From : Singapore(SIN - Changi Intl Terminal 2)
To : Dubai(DXB - Dubai Intl)
Date : 03 September 2009
Departure : 23:40

Flight No. : SQ490
From : Dubai(DXB - Dubai Intl Terminal 2)
To : Istanbul(IST - Ataturk Intl)
Date : 04 September 2009
Departure : 04:10

Will be departing on 3rd of September and be back on the 10th of Feburary (yes I need to be back for CNY).

My Turkey student visa should be done by this friday or latest next monday (yahoo! one more down).

Yup.. so now.. I have to arrange my transport to KOC university over at Turkey. 2 more months to go, but I'm feeling nervous, yet excited. To be in a foreign land ALONE has never been my choice; but yes, we are all choosing to fly alone.

Daddy "forced" me to chose an aisle seat, which I dont really fancy. but yeah.. flying alone can be "troublesome" as the one sitting beside you is not your friend, and so you can't "I WANNA PEE PEE, EXCUSE ME!"

Okay, anyways.. I'm finally done with my iPhone update, and now I can go for my swim. :)

It's summer again
Tuesday, June 02, 2009

It has been more than a month since my last exam. It's summer again! So much happened last summer and I am definitely happier this summer than last summer hurray :)

School is finally over, but yet, I have started missing school. Towards SMU life is a love-hate relationship. I really love the busy lives where you work so bloody hard just to complete the project or even study for tests and exams. At the same time, I really had so much fun staying over during exam period, study and snacking with a bunch of my girlfriends, sneaking out for an hour or two during busy days for wine and cheese, sitting down having tea and listening to jazz in cafes and pubs. My favourite hangout place is still wine connection at robertson quay. and now i have a new favourite! P.S. Cafe @ Dempsey. love it.

SMU life in singapore is over, and I'll be heading to Istanbul, Turkey for my exchange next semester. Going through so much to try to get to Vienna was to no avail. Yes, I AM disappointed and down when I knew I still couldn't get the school I wanted after risking. But oh well.. Turkey is rich in culture and I am definitely looking forward to it :)

Over the past 1 month of summer, I've been busy working in the first week, and I was off to Jordan and Israel for my second Business Study Mission; as a teaching assistant this time though. Beautiful place, wonderful people, and great company during the trip. Although we did not talk much, most of the time we were sleeping on the bus, the company was enough, even in silence. Jerusalem is definitely the most beautiful part of Israel, and Tel Aviv is the most relaxing place with the nicest cafes and streets in Israel. Also, not forgetting the mediterranean sea! Staying in Le Meridian hotel was a splendid experience. Waking up with the mediterranean sea in front of you, out of the window/balcony, listening to the waves breaking at the shore. Camel, horse and donkey rides during the trip as well. Walking through deserts, and the most memorable part? I feel it's the journey to Jerusalem. It was already dark, playing "The Holy Land" in the coach, overseeing the vast desert with spots of lights scattered around, and lying down on a "cushion" and I fell asleep.

After the trip, just recently we had a BBQ gathering, and i guess when all of us have more energy, we interact more. Thank God for the trip to be safe and smooth transition from Jordan to Israel too :)

Yup, so after my trip, had a week of rest before the start of my internship :) I love it, i like the place, the happy people and the colourful environment :)

Alright, will update again. soon i hope. gnight.

Ironic
Friday, February 27, 2009

Hmm.. I realised.. when one feels lonely, he/she usually can't find someone for company at that moment. Yet when he/she is not, there'll be so much social gatherings to deal with. Ironic huh.

End of week 7
Saturday, February 21, 2009

It's the mid term break again. Again, parties and gatherings lining up and I'm so gonna play L4D, bowling and i hope I can blade, swim and gym next week as well. Lots to do, but lots of enjoyment. Of course, all the fun comes with hardwork! Gotta finish up my case summaries for my SP mod, work hard on strat, read up on my PMC textbook, and catch up on my Business Ethics readings. *smiles*

This whole week was just crazy! Till I couldn't even do admin work for my trip. Really blessed that I have a partner to help me with it :)

After my fitness exam on wed night, DO YOU KNOW HOW HAPPY AM I !!!! Okay anyway the next day I had warehousing test, and I was so tired that I could not absorb already! Cheatsheet was done on the day itself, and I did not even finish it. I think I'm realllllly blessed. Coincidentally, Teck Yew had an extra copy of his cheatsheet so he loaned it to me :D:D:D:D:D:D:D The disadvantage is that it was not done by me so it will slow me down. Yup, but was fine. :)

Today I had my last item of the week - Business Ethics presentation. I did prepare my script, but did not have the time to rehearse myself at home (cos I'm DEAD already). Rushed to school today, and just had a last minute review of what I am going to say for the presentation. Gladly, it turned out well :)

I'm SO HAPPYYYYYY!! I've never been so busy before. All just came together this time. Glad I made it through without tea :))))

It's the year of the OX!
Tuesday, January 27, 2009

It's CNY again! The same routine all over again, but was nice seeing relatives that you see them once a year ya? heh..

Somehow I didnt really prepare any clothings for CNY this year cos I had some dresses which I haven worn since I bought them. I've only got a few tops and a zara jeans (which I love very much) for this new year.

As pathetic as before, I'm doing my strat assignment this time, and I'll be having a project meeting tomorrow morning. Nevertheless, I'm blessed enough for both classes on mon and tues not to have any make up classes :)

Anyway.. I've been looking at these 2 dresses from LD:

<3 both as much! but ahh.. I dont think im getting both, so i'm only choosing one. HOW!! so pretty :))))))

Third week of school
Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Time passes too fast!! IT'S THE THIRD WEEK OF SCHOOL ALREADY OMG. This semester has been especially busy for me. Look at the time now! it's 4am (last week was 3am) and I've just finished my Strategy assignment for tomorrow. Okay I know I procrastinated till today, but still !!! It's week 3 and I'm up at this time already. And I'll be having my first weekend meeting this week (on a week 3 which has never happened before).

Down with flu, I'm pathetic-ly sharing table with my wantons.

And this is probably only half of the amount (the other half in the bin).

Good night peeps!

UPDATES #8 - Standard Chartered Marathon 2008
Tuesday, December 09, 2008

Cecilia completed her first half marathon at 2 hrs 59 mins 15 s :)))))))

Even though I walked quite a bit, I'm still satisfied and happy that I've completed ^^ Runners from Symphonia - Winnie, Meishan, ME! Some of them went for 10km, and Andy went for the full. As for the gym team, too bad I did not get to meet them before and after their race. They four guys ran for the full marathon.

Meishan was late so Winnie and I went on first. Taken before the race at 630am

=)))

Shag. and the singlet is SHORT can!!

smiles

sorry that it looked gross, but that is the blister on my left tiny toe.

Happy and satisfied!!
